What is the E-RATE Program?
Since 1998, the Federal Government E-Rate Program or, more precisly, the Schools and Libraries Universal Service Support Mechanism has been providing discounts to assist most schools and libraries in the United States to obtain affordable Telecommunications and Internet access.
The Telecommunications Act of 1996, Section 254, was developed to help schools and libraries obtain access to state-of-the-art telecommunications services and technologies at
discounted rates.
All Non-Profit Schools both public and private qualify for discounts ranging from 20% through 90% based upon their degree of economic deprivation.
